2025 EU Energy Efficiency Certification Requirements and Processes for Monitors

2025 EU Energy Efficiency Certification Requirements and Processes for Monitors
August 03, 2025

In 2025, the export of monitors to the EU market must comply with the requirements of the EU Energy Related Products Directive (ERP) and must undergo corresponding energy efficiency certification and registration.

The following is the basic process for obtaining EU ERP energy efficiency certification:

Create an EU LOGIN account: Suppliers first need to create an EU LOGIN account at an official EU agency, which is the basis for subsequent EPREL (European Product Database for Energy Labeling) registration.

Product energy efficiency testing: Prior to registration, the supplier needs to send the product to a CNAS qualified laboratory for ERP energy efficiency testing. The testing items include but are not limited to parameters such as energy consumption, standby energy consumption, brightness, and power consumption. After the testing is completed, the laboratory will issue an ERP testing report.

Prepare registration documents: The required documents for registration include application forms, energy efficiency testing reports, and information on European representatives (authorized representatives located within the European Economic Area). All information needs to be carefully checked to ensure accuracy.

Perform EPREL registration: After preparing all necessary documents, suppliers can log in to the EPREL system and register new product models. Product information related to energy labels, technical documentation, and compliance information needs to be entered. Companies from non EU countries need to complete the registration process through designated European agents.

Generate and download energy efficiency labels: After completing registration, energy efficiency labels can be generated and downloaded in the system. There are clear regulations on the form and size of labels, and enterprises should strictly follow the requirements for operation.

Report product information: The final step is to upload various product information to the EPREL system for classification management and statistical analysis.

matters needing attention:

Ensure that the product complies with the ERP energy efficiency directive requirements of the European Union.

Plan the time in advance, as registering and updating energy efficiency labels may take some time.

All submitted information must be accurate and error free to avoid registration failure or other issues caused by incorrect information.

Please note that specific requirements and procedures may be adjusted over time and in accordance with changes in EU regulations.
